Accounting Manager (In-House)

Key Responsibilities:

  • QuickBooks management on the accrual basis, including reconciliations, preparation of workpapers, journal entries, general ledger, and account listing maintenance
  • Maintain cash basis QuickBooks file for tax return reporting
  • Assist Managing Partner with preparation of workpapers for annual partnership tax returns
  • Prepare insightful monthly financial reports, including preparation of monthly financial statements for management review
  • Prepare semi-monthly payroll, including submission of 401k reports (Paychex)
  • Prepare annual payroll census for 401(k) reporting
  • Prepare annual Forms 1096 and 1099
  • Compile and analyze statistical reports on items such as billable hours, billing realization, staff productivity, and other reports as requested by management
  • Support the Billing Department, including processing and reviewing client invoices and assisting partners with the billing process
  • Managing WIP and A/R and collections
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and other annual reports
  • Preparation of commission payable reports
  • As necessary or required, prepare information for WC audits
  • Assist the Firm Administrator and/or Managing Partner with special projects
  • Safeguard confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion and the highest level of confidentiality

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Technically savvy – flexibility and interest in learning new software on the fly

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in an accounting role at a professional services firm (public accounting firm experience would be ideal!)
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting packages a plus
  • Payroll software experience required; Paychex software experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (pivot tables, formula creation, etc.)
  • QBO experience required
