Associate, Client Accounting/Advisory Services (CAS)

As an Associate in the Client Accounting Services (CAS) Department at MichaelSilver, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality financial and accounting services to our clients. Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Accounting Services: Prepare financial statements, manage accounts receivable and payable, reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts, and maintain accurate financial records for clients
  • Payroll and Sales Tax Filings: Manage and oversee the preparation and submission of payroll taxes, sales tax returns, and payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for clients to optimize their financial operations as well as identify opportunities for additional client accounting, assurance, tax, and consulting services
  • Troubleshooting: Address and resolve accounting discrepancies or issues that may arise, ensuring clients’ financial records are accurate and error-free
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain positive client relationships by addressing their accounting needs, responding to inquiries, and delivering exceptional client service
  • Client Onboarding: Assist in the onboarding of new clients by gathering necessary financial information, setting up accounting systems, and establishing reporting protocols
  • Data Management: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, maintaining organized records, and workpapers
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery and provide support to senior team members as required
  • Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, streamline workflows, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the CAS department

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience doing similar work for a CPA firm or industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Extensive experience with Quickbooks Online, Xero, or other major accounting software
  • Comfortable with various technologies including a variety of accounting applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to travel to clients in the Greater Chicago area (if you live local to Chicago – we are open to 100% remote)

We offer a 37.5 hour work week but generally work 50 hours a week during January through March and a lesser amount of overtime in October.
