For the third consecutive year, Michael Silver & Company CPAs was proud to field a team to participate in Honor Ride Chicago, organized by our client, Rob Paddor, owner of Evanston Subaru. This year 13 MSCO-ers and five friends and family joined hundreds of other cyclists to ride in support of Ride 2 Recovery, a veteran rehabilitation program that provides modified cycling equipment, training, and cycling events to help wounded vets heal from the scars of battle. Once again, our team was a top fundraiser. We are proud to say that we came in first place this year, raising a total $4,620 for this fantastic organization!
After Eric Larson made sure all of our bikes were in good condition, we set off on the 18-mile course amidst sunny skies and cool breezes. It was a truly perfect morning for a ride through the northern suburbs. The trail took us through Skokie, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, and Evanston. The beautiful homes, magnificent Baha’i Temple, and stunning Lake Michigan views were a welcome diversion from the hills and occasionally bumpy roads and potholes that challenged us. After our long ride, we were welcomed back by cheering crowds and medals and treated to a salsa band and a made-to-order taco lunch that was delicious and truly appreciated.
Many thanks to Michael Silver & Company CPAs for sponsoring our entry fees again this year and to all of our co-workers who donated so generously. This event has become a truly wonderful firm tradition.
