Position Overview:

As an Associate Accountant in our CAS Department, you will gain hands-on experience in accounting, financial reporting, and client service. You will work closely with senior team members to support clients with bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting while developing your expertise in cloud-based accounting solutions and client advisory services. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level accountant who is eager to learn, grow, and build a strong foundation in CAS and advisory services. The location of this position is hybrid or on-site in our Deerfield IL office. The position maintains a standard 37.5-hour workweek April through December and a 50-hour workweek January through March.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting and financial support
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
  • Support accounts payable and receivable functions for clients
  • Payroll and Sales Tax Assistance
  • Help prepare payroll tax filings and sales tax returns
  • Assist in managing payroll processing and responding to tax notices
  • Client engagement and support
  • Work with clients to ensure financial data is accurate and up to date
  • Respond to client inquiries with professionalism and excellent service
  • Technology and process efficiency
  • Utilize QuickBooks Online, Xero, and other cloud-based accounting tools
  • Learn and apply best practices in workflow automation and process improvements
  • Collaboration with other firm departments
  • Work under the guidance of Senior Accountants and Supervisors to complete client projects
  • Participate in training and professional development programs

Qualifications:

  • Enjoy direct communication with clients and peers
  • 0–2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping (internships or relevant coursework accepted)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online, Xero, or other accounting software is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Eager to learn and develop expertise in CAS, financial analysis, and advisory services
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel locally to client sites (Greater Chicago area) if based in Chicago

MichaelSilver is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role for those assigned and/or hired to work in Illinois. The pay range is $70,000 – $85,000 annually plus discretionary bonus. Individual pay rates within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, certifications, skills, and geography.
