Overview:
The Manager (Tax) plays an integral role in our Tax Department by providing high quality tax services for clients and management of staff. The successful candidate will be proficient in the taxation of High Net-Worth (HNWI) individuals, partnerships, limited liability companies, and/or other similar flow-through entities.
Responsibilities:
- Research complex tax issues using internal revenue code, treasury regulations, and other relevant authorities/guidance
- Perform technical tax review of assigned tax returns of varying complexity in a variety of industries
- Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, consulting, strategizing, researching, etc.
- Provide tax review, compliance and advisory services to individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and/or corporations in a variety of industries
- Deliver high quality tax planning and advisory services to existing tax clients
- Manage multiple clients, budgets, and production goals
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with clients and manage client accounts
- Supervise IRS, state, and local government tax audits, notices, and correspondence
- Provide review of a variety of returns, planning, research, and compliance
- Ensure top quality client service and oversees total engagement activity
- Train, supervise, and mentor staff along with reviewing and evaluating their work
- Support and assist other managers in training and development of staff
- Recruitment of new and experienced staff
- Work closely with Tax Partners to satisfy the needs with planning compliance
- Understand and manage Firm risk on tax services performed
- Contribute to practice development and professional networking and possess the ability to attract new clients
- Identify and sell additional services to existing clients
- Represent the Firm in professional and service organizations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field; Masters of Science in Taxation (MST) or similar degree preferred
- CPA license or JD required
- 2-3 years of demonstrated proficiency as a Manager in Public Accounting or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 6 years of public accounting experience
- Proficient in the taxation of High Net-Worth (HNW) individuals, partnerships, limited liability companies, and/or other similar flow-through entities required
- Experience with automobile dealerships or International business entities a plus
- Experience with CCH/Axcess accounting software required
- Advanced level tax research and preparation skills
- Ability to manage multiple engagements

MichaelSilver is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role for those assigned and/or hired to work in Illinois. The pay range is $130,000 – $155,000 annually plus discretionary bonus. Individual pay rates within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, certifications, skills, and geography.
