Senior Accountant, Client Accounting/Advisory Services

As a Senior Accountant in the Client Accounting/Advisory Services (CAS) Department at MichaelSilver, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality financial and accounting services to our clients. Key Responsibilities:

  • Outsourced Accounting Services: Prepare financial statements, manage accounts receivable and payable, reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts, and maintain accurate financial records for complex clients
  • Payroll and Sales Tax Filings: Prepare and manage the preparation and submission of payroll tax and sales tax returns and payroll processing for your client list
  • Tax Notices: Manage and oversee payroll and sales tax notices
  • Research: Work on complex research for payroll and sales tax issues
  • Review: Review associate level staff’s work and provide guidance/education
  • Financial Analysis: Prepare and meet with clients quarterly to provide analysis of their financial statements and discuss their businesses
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain a positive client relationships by addressing their accounting needs, responding to inquiries, and delivering exceptional client service
  • Client Onboarding: Assist in the onboarding of new clients by gathering necessary financial information, setting up accounting systems, and establishing reporting protocols
  • Data Management: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, maintaining organized records and workpapers
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues throughout the firm to ensure seamless services delivery and provide support to senior team members as required
  • Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to enhance accounting process, streamline workflows, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the CAS department

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience doing similar work for a CPA firm
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Extensive experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero, and other major accounting software
  • Comfortable with various technologies including a variety of accounting applications, passionate about learning new technologies to support our work with clients
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to travel to clients in the Greater Chicago area (if you live local to Chicago) – our people work where they choose – 100% remote, in the office, or a combination of the two

Our standard work week is 37.5 hour week, but we work up to 50 hours a week from January through March.
