As a Supervisor or Manager in the Client Accounting/Advisory Services (CAS) Department at MichaelSilver, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality financial and accounting services to our clients. Key Responsibilities:
- Review and Guidance: Review various levels of staff’s outsourced accounting, payroll, sales tax, and advisory work, offering guidance, feedback, and educational support to enhance their skills and knowledge
- Business Development: Contribute to business development efforts by identifying opportunities for new services, participating in the client proposal process, and helping to expand the Department and Firm’s client base
- Initiatives: Assist in executing department and Firm initiatives by aligning team goals with strategic priorities, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
- Client Engagements: Build and maintain a positive client relationship in a supervisory role within the client’s team and manage larger team projects from planning to execution
- Client Onboarding: Manage the client onboarding process for new clients or new services
- Advisory Services: Provide higher level advisory services to clients including forecasting, KPI dashboards, cost accounting exercises, etc.
- Client Work: Provide controller services, outsourced accounting, payroll, and sales tax services to more complex clients
- Tax Notices: Manage and oversee payroll and sales tax notices
- Research: Work on complex research for payroll and sales tax issues
- Data Management: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, maintaining organized records and workpapers
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues throughout the Firm to ensure seamless services delivery and provide support to senior team members as required
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, streamline workflows, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the CAS Department
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience doing similar work for a CPA firm
- CPA preferred
- Bachelor degree in accounting or related field
- Must have experience managing and directing staff
- Prior experience being responsible for final work product
- Extensive experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero, Yardi, and other major accounting software
- Comfortable with various technologies, including a variety of accounting applications, passionate about learning new technologies to support our work with clients
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
- LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY – Ability to travel to clients in the Greater Chicago area – You can work remote, hybrid, or in the office, but must be able to travel to our Deerfield office periodically.
Our standard work week is 37.5 hour week, but we work up to 60 hours a week from January through March.
